Now that the weather is getting cooler, travel has slowed down and the kids are back in school, I’m finding my clients are getting back into a routine and more focused on their fitness goals. And they are not sad about it!
If you’ve fallen out of your fitness routine and are ready to get back on track, I wanted to share a few tips that have helped them:
Start slow - it can feel overwhelming and not the most successful when you try to do allll the things. Slowly try to add 1-2 habits back into your daily routine. This may be hitting your 10k steps, drinking water, consistently strength training 3-4x a week, getting back to your weekly yoga class or simply adding protein into every meal. Pick 1-2 habits to incorporate and once you have, add another 1-2 habits.
Plan out your week - I know you’ve heard this before but it really does work. Take 10-15 minutes on Sunday to get organized. Plan out your meals for the week and make a grocery list, physically put your workouts into your calendar and schedule that yoga class. You will find yourself way more accountable if you’ve planned for it.
Enlist a buddy - Find a friend that has the same fitness goals and keep each other accountable. Plan walks after school drop-off, share recipes or meet for a group fitness class. Just knowing your friend will be waiting for you at the gym or asking what you’re making for dinner will help jumpstart your healthier habits.
I hope you find these tips helpful and find yourself back into your fitness routine before you know it!
