Can you believe it’s already February? January always feels like a blur to me with school and sports starting back up, getting back into the swing of things post holidays and it tends to be one of the busiest times of the year for my business (thanks to New Year’s resolutions.)
Speaking of New Year's resolutions, did you know that 80% of people ditch their New Year’s resolutions by February 1st? And only 9% actually fully see their goals through? This shocked me! I knew it was low but didn't realize how low the success rate of New Year's resolutions truly are.
The key to success is consistency. And in order to ensure consistency you need to make sure the changes you are making are attainable and sustainable. Here are my tips for making sure you can be consistent and crush those goals in 2023:
1. Don’t change everything at once - if your goal is to workout 5-6 times a week but are new to working out, start with 2-3 times. This allows your body and mind to acclimate to your new routine slowly to prevent injury or burnout.
2. Schedule out your training (or any other habits you’d like to implement) - what gets planned, gets done. Physically make an appointment in your schedule for training and try your hardest not to break it.
3. Find an accountability partner - enlist a friend, family member or a coach to help keep you on track. You’re 95% more likely to reach your goals when accountability is involved.
4. Be ok with imperfection - many give up on their goals early because they “messed up anyway.” But setbacks are part of the process and unavoidable so don’t let them stop you.
I hope you find these tips helpful and, as always, I’m here to help. If you are feeling stuck and need help getting back on track, let’s chat. We can come up with a game plan to crush your 2024 fitness goals.
